Anonymous asked: Hi, I'm starting to develop a passion for customized vintage motorcycles. Via Google I found your Tumblr page and I'm very impressed by the motorcycles you build. I haven't got my motor drivers licence yet. But I'm planning on getting one soon. I very much love the '78 Yamaha XS500 Bobber Custom you built. I was just wondering, just for a reference, what a motorcycle like...

Anonymous asked: do you ever do a banshe stater swap to avoid the main problem these bikes have with the charging system to make them run with just kick start? and if so is this an easy swap?

Anonymous asked: I think your bikes are nothing short of incredible, all trophy worthy, especially the Copper Devil, and recently the Bullitt, was wondering if you'll be carrying your T-shirts in XX-large anytime soon?
taylorhaydenhill asked: I've been following your blog for a while. My buddy just gave me his project xs650 and its all in pieces and needs the frame to be welded but all the parts cut out. This is going to be my first bike build. What pointers would you give a 18 building his first bobber? P.S. I loved your XS650 with the mustang tank . Blue rear white wall. It was amazing.

Anonymous asked: not a question just a thank you for putting your top quality work here. The input you give to those trying to replicate or learn form your efforts, is generous of your time and tallent. I would wish you luck in your buisness but from what I've seen here I don't think luck will have alot to do with your undoubet sucess. Thanks marc
ghostdrifter asked: have some comments and questions about the Yamaha XS400 - "The Classic". first question is how did you eliminate the battery or what battery did you use and where is it hidden? second is did you rake the front end at all... or that my eyes tricking me? I have a 80 xs400 that I find your build to be very inspirational. its really slick. Oh, what jetting did you use to run with open...
Anonymous asked: I stumbled across your blog about 6 months ago, and have been following ever sense! I am so stoked on all of the bikes you restore and build. You price them extremely reasonably, cheaper than any other vintage custom rebuilder. I wanted to pick your brain on a build im working on right now. I acquired a suzuki gn400, and haven't seen many customized ones out there. Any advice on what I could...
Anonymous asked: I noticed a customer had a xs650 that you did with a xs500 swingarm and wheels. I did that swap also, but It looks like the countershaft and rear sprocket might not align perfectly. What did you do to remedy this?, or is it even a big deal. I recently reinstalled my 650 swingarm, and I'd have to make spacers on both sides of the wheel and I still have a sprocket alignment issue. I'd...
braddeville asked: just stumbled across ur work. wow. really clean. just wondered, how many bikes do u spit out a year?

Updates From The Shop - January
My apologies for not keeping up with the site recently. It’s been a very busy month and here’s what I’ve been up to..
The Royal Rebuild (yet un-named) - with a close deadline of March 10, I’ve been cranking hard on this project!
Finished Frame: Mocking Up The Pipes:
I got a set of gnarly old Triumph wheel hubs from a customer to have them polished. After...
Anonymous asked: Just wanted to say I love your bikes man! Been following your builds for awhile now, and I must say, great quality work. The styling of your bikes is amazing. Question: I've seem to notice that you mainly do metric Japanese bikes. Do you ever build or work on British bikes like Triumphs, BSA, Norton, etc? What about American bikes? Would be awesome to see your take on an old triumph or harley...
Anonymous asked: Would you mind telling me what jets you use in the cb350. Im running the same set up (V-stacks, and open exhust) and trying to figure out the how to get this damn thing running right. Thanks for any help you can give.
Anonymous asked: Hi, The Royal and The Speedster are both absolutely awesome and either are what i am looking for. Do you please mind telling me how much they sold for? Many thanks.

Anonymous asked: Very nice bikes! I'm a garage builder myself with very similar taste, so much so, that i have a project where i was set to use the xs500 tank. Then i found your red line bike. you beat me to it! Did you have any issues with the petcock being to close to the rear of the motor, or was the tank moved back a hair? keep it up!

gilmoure asked: Just found your tumblr. Will be using it for inspiration. I have a '72 CB450 I found buried in the mud, under a fallen down goat shed (up in mountains of New Mexico). I managed to get it torn down before the snow hit (2' so far) and will be getting started on rebuild in the spring (or summer. Had snow up through May last year). No shop or even carport here so doing build on front porch....

2011 - Year in Review - Vintage Customs
As we close out 2011, I thought I’d go back and review the bikes and happenings of Vintage Customs! Its been an amazing year for Vintage Customs! The bikes got lots of publicity, the craftsmanship and quality of the bikes was at it’s highest and the physical growth of the shop and the growth of the business as a whole was amazing!
Several bikes were published in magazines and blogs,...

Anonymous asked: Hi, my favourite build is the CB 350 Speedster. How did you lower the front if it was lowered ? Thanks
Anonymous asked: I've been building XS650's for a while and really appreciate your builds, you attention to detail and your sense of style. You've done a great job of keeping them your own, not too commercial but your form is familiar and timeless. Bravo. Via facebook I mentioned you should read "Shop Class as Soul Craft". I think it'll light some fires on those days when you just...

Anonymous asked: Hi, Greetings from Texas. I just wanted to say that I love your work. Keep up the great job. Your work is very inspiring. Definitely rideable works of art. Question for you if you don't mind: What size tire are you running in the rear for the drifter and normally what size or sizes do you recommend running in the rear for bobbers or choppers if I'm wanting to run a 16'' wheel?...
