Anonymous asked: do you ever do a banshe stater swap to avoid the main problem these bikes have with the charging system to make them run with just kick start? and if so is this an easy swap?
About 1-2 years ago I was against the banshee swaps. I even answered a question similar to this with some disdain because at that time there were really only adapter plates available, you still had to find a banshee system, modify the woodruff key on the crankshaft and hope it all worked out.
Now there are two great bolt on kits, XS Charge & Hugh’s Handbuilt. I personally use the XS Charge system, and yes, everytime I write this I get someone telling me the other is better… I’m not saying which is better, just that I use the XS Charge kit. Both can be found on sites like TC Bros, Monster Craftsmen & other XS parts vendors sites.
I did a post on installing the PMA kit here.
You can run a capacitor with these systems to eliminate a battery, but I have not done so.
