Yep, it’s officially for sale on eBay. And if you’re thinking the price is a little high, consider that the motor is fully rebuilt, the transmission is fully rebuilt and just about everything else is new or rebuilt. This bike cost me a small fortune to build and trust me, I’m not making much on it!

Everyone wants to know about the Speedster..

“Hey man, I really love your work and I wish I could buy one of your bikes but I’m from Europe so I just wanted to ask you if you’d give me some information about the parts you used while making “The Speedster”, it is a truly piece of art you made there (Deus Ex Machina-level stuff) :), thanks a lot and I hope you’ll respond to my question :)”

“I own a k1 SL350 that I’m turning into a brat familiar to “The Speedster’. Could you tell me about the suspension on the “The Speedster” (rear shock measurement from”eye to clevis”,and front suspension measurements). Also on”The Speedster” the tire was so close to the fender barely living any room for the shocks to absorb any impact. how is this safe? did you buy specific rear shocks? THNX”

Ok guys, I get a lot of questions about that bike so here’s a little of everything:

Stock 18” CB wheels front & rear, Firestone 3.50x18” tires, Honda Rebel shocks (10.5” eye to eye) with custom fab linkage, front forks slammed (I don’t want to hear about it), aluminum TT500 tank, stock fork covers/headlight brackets, stock headlight, custom seat, custom fender (yes it’s close, sometimes its just form over function, pick your heavy ass up when you go over a bump…) stock frame with extra brackets and tabs removed, battery relocated low under the swingarm, mostly stock everything else.

Two New Customer Builds

Kicking off the month of June are two customer commissioned builds. This is how it all starts..

One project is an XS650 for a returning customer, all the way from Germany, Ralf, the owner of my XS400 The Classic. This will be a very detailed and clean custom heavily influenced by the work of Gravel Crew. This will be one of the most detailed, high-end customs to roll out of Vintage Customs shop!

The other build is a ‘72 Honda CB350 for Jay here in Florida. Jay brought me his really complete, all original CB, along with a box of parts including a cool chrome Wards Riverside tank, aluminum rear fender, Firestone tires and some MX style bars. The goal for this is a simplified, mild custom with the usual Vintage Customs flair.

Updates From the Shop - July 1st

The Rogue - SR500 Build -
The SR is now complete and I’m just finishing up some detail items and getting it ready to fire up. I’m really hoping to get some attention on this as it’s truly a gorgeous bike! Some more teaser pics coming soon.

CB350 - Customer Build -
The CB is moving along nicely. All of the frame mods have been made, tank fitted & seat pan completed. The bike has now been torn down. The tank & covers have been returned to the customer who is doing his own paint. The motor is ready to be stripped and rebuilt and the frame is ready for all of the final welding and finish work.

XS650 - Customer Build -
The XS is a longer term build, so there wont be as many updates on this project as others. The bike has been stripped and the tank has been fitted. Otherwise, I’m currently acquiring all of the parts needed for the build.

The Vintage Customs XS -
Yep, I posted a mobile pic a week or so ago of the XS I picked up for myself. It’s pretty bad being the guy who builds bikes for everyone else except himself.

As of right now, the hardtail has been built and all tacked in place. I have most of the parts already gathered for this build but I’m working on it mainly on the weekends in between my other builds so progress is slow. It will be done by October for the local Biketoberfest here in Florida.

Updates From The Shop - August

CB350 Customer Build -
Everything is rebuilt, wired up & ready to go. The PAMCO ignition has been back ordered due to a “re-design”, hopefully that will be in soon. Other than that, she’s just awaiting the finished tank and side covers from the customer and a few other little details.

XS650 Customer Build -
Is moving along well. The motor is almost finished being rebuilt and nearly all of the parts have been ordered, most of which have arrived.  The tank is ready to go and I’m waiting on 7 Metal West to produce the ribbed aluminum rear fender so I can finish fabbing up the frame.
Lots of detail in this build. All new shouldered aluminum rims with fully polished hubs, tons of polished aluminum, rear sets, clip-ons & tons of new parts!
Here’s a sneak peak -

My Personal XS650 Build -
Progress has been slow but steady. The hardtail frame is now complete and ready for paint. The new Axed tank and fender is prepped and ready for paint as well. Wheels & tires are mounted and ready. Aside from the motor rebuild and a few parts, she’s close. Hopefully she’ll be ready by October..
